👋Well hello there!

I’m Charly, an environmental educator of over 15 years with a background of workplaces ranging from the rocky shore through to school playgrounds; and my current habitat of an urban allotment where I welcome 16-24 year olds to learn work-related skills in a relaxed and welcome environment.

Thank you for landing here. This is the ‘about’ page for my publication

- a newsletter that offers rituals and stories to calm us, and subtle ways to sychronise with the energies of the seasons here in the Northern hemisphere.

Thanks to the lovely

who writes the equally wonderfully engaging publication for the this lovely testimonial.

My passion is for the healing power of nature and the profound positive effect this can have on calming our (often) overwhelmed nervous systems. Having personally suffered from three burnouts in the past 12 years, I am also fascinated by how we can find a work/life balance through ritual and slowing our life’s rhythm to a pace that mirrors and honours the natural world.

For this reason, everything I create is grounded in the Wheel of the Year - a calendar which celebrates 8 sabbats (festivals), dividing the year so that every 6 weeks we have a nature-rooted reason to bring us back to our animal bodies and reconnect with the natural rhythms of the season. To celebrate these 8 occasions, the editions of Moontime Musings which fall on or close to each of them, are completely free. You can find links to the most recent ones in the Welcome post linked below.

I also write about another passion of mine - the moon and her cycles. While recovering from burnout the second time around I came across lots of literature and resources which pointed towards how many female bodies are aligned to the 29.5 day moon cycle which mirrors our own 28ish day menstrual cycle. The invitation to wax and wane throughout each month just made so much sense, so now this is a rhythm I do my best to reflect - and this appears in my writing here, hence the name -

.

Firstly thank you for making this work possible 🙏I absolutely love to write about the moon, nature connection, pagan rituals and traditions as well as the seasons. You can expect 2 editions each month - usually appearing on the New and Full moons.

In the months of November-February inclusive I write once a month to honour the time of rest that Winter brings. Then once Spring is upon us and I emerge from hibernation, you can expect two editions a month. My editions are usually pretty weighty so you can expect to be reading for up to 5 minutes per edition.

Upgrade to paid

This means that when you subscribe you can expect to receive 20 editions throughout the calendar year direct to your inbox, plus a few cheeky bonus editions sprinkled about when I’m feeling particular museful (is that a word?!).

I’m so excited to welcome you and cycle through the seasons and the Wheel of the Year with you in here on Substack.
