Hello lovely ones,
How is the seasonal ease into Autumn treating you? I hope you’re faring better than I am and not mourning the warmth and light of Summer too much! I’m wondering if it’s time to invest in a SAD lamp to help with this seasonal transition which I always find to blanket me in a cloak of regret for not making ‘more’ of the summer months. I feel that this striving for ‘more’ has defined our society since the covid pandemic, not only with in-our-faces advertising to consume more-more-more, but also with the pressure to squeeze ‘more’ out of each day in a cycle of living in a perpetual Summer. If you’re feeling like this resonates with you I’d love to invite you to join me on a journey into Winter (and out the other side into early Spring) on my Moontime, myths and medicines course. Please read the text in italics for a course synopsis, otherwise if this isn’t for you (and you’re a paid subscriber) please scroll down for the remainder of this newsletter.
In a world where the status quo is to give the same level of energy and 'productivity' every day throughout months and seasons, it's no wonder that levels of burnout are high. We are not designed to be 100% ‘on’ in an eternal summer of endless energy. This course offers an alternative way forward where meaningful seasonal rituals and an understanding of The Wheel of the Year are central to curating a balanced routine through the cycles and seasons.
There's so much we can learn from history too. The symbolism of Roman and Greek Lunar Goddesses and Pagan deities can offer insight at times of menstruation and menopause. We’ll learn about powerful plant medicine with the Anglo-Saxon's sacred herbs and look at when to harvest them. Community is key to this course and we will meet together on zoom each month between November and March on the New Moon.
